Core Adult Program

Leadership Rochester was founded in 1990, as a not-for-profit, community leadership program dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the greater Rochester area by:

  • Identifying emerging and existing leaders.
  • Educating and informing them about significant community issues.
  • Developing their leadership skills and abilities for community benefit
  • Providing opportunities to exercise one's leadership talents
  • Creating a means to establish and maintain relationships with other leaders

Leadership Rochester identifies and develops leaders representative of the greater Rochester community, who are encouraged to serve and contribute for the betterment of all.

Each years' recruitment begins in March and the class is selected in July with the opening retreat bringing the group together for the first time in September. Approximately 35-45 people are chosen per year from a selective application and interview process to participate in this nine-month program. Group participants immerse themeslves in a topical community issue for one Friday per month. Hands-on activities change monthly, as does the roster of relevant community leaders that offer their insights on a 360-degree view of the topic at hand. Topics range from education, health care, criminal justice to economic development. This is a tuition based program with limited scholarships available.
